During the Clone Wars, they served under the command of the Jedi Order but ultimately turned on them and killed them, as a result of Palpatine issuing Order 66, which branded the Jedi as traitors and ordered their deaths. All clone troopers are humans cloned from the bounty hunter Jango Fett and age at twice the rate of a normal human. In-universe, the clone troopers serve as the military of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. They have been featured in a number of Star Wars media, including Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005), The Clone Wars animated film (2008), the related television series of the same name (2008–2020), the Rebels television series (2014–2018), and the Star Wars: The Bad Batch television series (2021-), as well as comics, novels, and video games of the Star Wars Legends expanded universe. Clone troopers are fictional characters in the Star Wars franchise created by George Lucas.
